Indian Navy to acquire domestic underwater ROV for enhanced capabilities.

The Indian Navy has awarded a contract worth INR 660 million (USD 7.4 million) to domestic firm Coratia Technologies for the procurement of the Jalasimha underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Designed to enhance surveillance capabilities, the Jalasimha can operate at depths exceeding 1,485 feet, features an integrated sensor suite for advanced data analytics, and includes a robotic arm for underwater manipulation tasks. With applications in port security, hull inspections, and subsea cable monitoring, this acquisition underscores India’s commitment to strengthening indigenous defense capabilities and enhancing maritime security. Furthermore, Coratia Technologies is also developing additional ROVs, reflecting a promising trajectory for domestic innovation in underwater operations.
