Indian Navy Receives Indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Ship 'Androth

The Indian Navy has received the indigenously-built anti-submarine warfare ship ‘Androth’, enhancing its maritime capabilities amid China’s increasing presence in the Indian Ocean. This vessel, part of a series of eight anti-submarine warfare-shallow water craft developed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, embodies India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense manufacturing, with over 80% indigenous content. The 77-meter ship, equipped with advanced torpedoes and anti-submarine rockets, signifies a strategic initiative to bolster coastal surveillance and safeguard India’s maritime interests, in alignment with the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
