Indian Navy Plans Next-Gen Aircraft Carrier with Nuclear Propulsion and EMALS
The Indian Navy is advancing its modernization efforts by planning to integrate nuclear propulsion systems and electromagnetic aircraft launch systems (EMALS) into its next-generation aircraft carrier and surface combatants. This initiative aims to enhance operational endurance and strategic reach across the Indo-Pacific region, allowing for extended deployments without frequent refueling. The incorporation of EMALS will improve aircraft launch efficiency and versatility, critical for modern naval warfare. Furthermore, this strategy aligns with the Make in India initiative, as the Navy collaborates with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop these technologies, showcasing India’s commitment to bolstering indigenous defense manufacturing and securing its maritime interests.
