Indian Navy Inducts Sixth Indigenous Tugboat Sabal

The Indian Navy has inducted its sixth 25-tonne Bollard Pull tugboat, Sabal, at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, marking the completion of a series of six tugs built under a contract with Titagarh Rail Systems Limited. These tugs are designed to enhance naval operations by aiding warships and submarines in berthing and maneuvering, and providing firefighting support. The induction of Sabal underscores the Navy’s commitment to strengthening operational support infrastructure in line with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, promoting indigenous defense production and operational efficiency. This development is a significant step toward bolstering India’s maritime capabilities.
