Indian Coast Guard Enhances Maritime Surveillance with UAVs
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is set to enhance its maritime surveillance capabilities by inducting remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as stated by DG Paramesh Sivamani. This initiative complements the current fleet and the ongoing Coastal Surveillance Network Project, which will significantly expand radar coverage. The ICG’s operational readiness is bolstered by strategically deployed hovercrafts and a robust logistics network, ensuring rapid response to maritime incidents. Furthermore, the ICG is advancing its indigenous shipbuilding, with recent launches of advanced vessels enhancing self-reliance and operational efficiency in protecting India’s marine interests.
