Indian Army Uses Low-Cost Barriers to Counter Drone Threats.

The Indian Army has initiated the deployment of low-tech physical barriers, termed “anti-drone cages,” to protect military helicopters and aircraft from drone threats along its western frontiers. This shift follows a recent drone attack on the Jammu Air Force Station, underscoring vulnerabilities in aircraft parking protocols. Constructed from standardised scaffolding and nylon netting, these enclosures boast a 97 percent interception rate against modified commercial drones. Cost-effective and operationally efficient, with each unit priced at approximately 8 lakh, this strategy reflects a broader trend in military adaptations to counter the evolving dynamics of drone warfare, ensuring the safeguarding of valuable aerial assets against inexpensive, yet effective, aerial threats.
