Indian Army uses 3D printing for rapid bunker and post construction.
The Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps, in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad under Project PRABAL, operationalised on-site 3D concrete printing technology on December 5, 2025, for rapid construction of bunkers and sentry posts in forward areas of Sikkim and adjoining locations like Arunachal Pradesh. This indigenous, vehicle-portable system—featuring a robotic arm, circular mixer, piston pump, and generator—is optimised for mountainous terrain, enabling swift deployment and use of local materials to enhance infrastructure in challenging border regions. The printed structures have passed live ballistic trials, confirming superior strength, blast resistance, compressive performance, custom designs, and camouflage integration, thereby strengthening India’s operational readiness and engineering self-reliance along strategic frontiers.
