Indian Army to receive final three AH-64E Apaches, enhancing combat readiness.

The Indian Army is set to receive the final three AH-64E Apache attack helicopters from the United States, a significant advancement in its rotary-wing combat capabilities that will enhance operational readiness, particularly along the western front with Pakistan. The helicopters, which are currently en route to India, are part of a broader procurement deal valued at approximately ₹5,691 crore, with the delivery having faced delays due to global supply chain issues. Equipped with advanced weaponry, including Hellfire Longbow missiles and Stinger air-to-air missiles, these Apaches will significantly bolster the Army Aviation Corps’ offensive capabilities and integrate seamlessly with existing fleets. Additionally, the Indian Navy is also set to commission its second squadron of MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, marking a comprehensive enhancement in India’s maritime and aerial combat capabilities. The induction of these state-of-the-art platforms is crucial for addressing operational gaps and positions India to better respond to evolving regional security challenges, thus reinforcing its layered defense posture on both northern and western fronts.
