Indian Army to Acquire 12 More Apache Helicopters for Fleet Expansion
The Indian Army is set to enhance its aviation capabilities by acquiring 12 additional Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, aiming for a fleet exceeding 150 units, which includes the indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand and Rudra WSI. Currently, the Army operates 22 Apaches and seeks to replace outdated Mi-24 and Mi-35 helicopters. The integration of these advanced platforms will significantly boost the Army’s operational readiness, particularly in high-altitude and contested environments along the borders with China and Pakistan, thereby reinforcing India’s military strength and strategic flexibility. This modernization reflects the Army’s commitment to adapting to the evolving dynamics of modern warfare.
