Indian Army seeks proposals for 6 indigenous fast patrol boats for coastal operations.
The Indian Army has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for six indigenous Fast Patrol Boats (FPBs) aimed at enhancing tactical maritime capabilities in shallow, inland, and coastal operations. Aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, the RFP mandates at least 60% indigenous content, fostering self-reliance in defense manufacturing. Key specifications highlight the need for high maneuverability and stability, supporting missions such as reconnaissance and rapid interdiction. Leading Indian shipbuilders like Goa Shipyard Limited, Larsen & Toubro, and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders are expected to actively participate, which signifies a pivotal shift toward indigenously designed platforms and boosts India’s naval industrial base, reinforcing operational readiness in littoral warfare.
