The Indian Army has secured intellectual property rights for its newly unveiled coat combat (digital print), a three-layered garment designed to enhance soldier comfort and operational efficiency. Developed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology in collaboration with the Army Design Bureau, this innovative attire effectively combines combat functionality with advanced technical textiles, ensuring durability and concealment across diverse terrains. The registration of the design under the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks reinforces the Army’s commitment to self-reliance and innovation in defense clothing, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and the Decade of Transformation (2023-2032). This advancement marks a significant milestone in the Army’s ongoing modernization efforts, emphasizing the importance of soldier welfare and indigenous development in defense systems.
