Indian Army Considers Zorawar Chassis for Advanced AERV Development
The Indian Army is exploring the Zorawar light tank chassis to develop a next-generation Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV), replacing the aging BMP-II chassis. This modernization aims to enhance combat engineering capabilities, particularly in challenging terrains like the Line of Actual Control with China. The Zorawar, designed for high-altitude operations, offers improved mobility and advanced technology, crucial for responsive military operations following regional security dynamics highlighted by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. Adapting this platform for engineering tasks will bolster India’s strategic infrastructure development and ensure effective support against evolving threats from regional adversaries.
