The Indian Army is exploring the Zorawar light tank chassis to develop a next-generation Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV), replacing the aging BMP-II chassis. This modernization aims to enhance combat engineering capabilities, particularly in challenging terrains like the Line of Actual Control with China. The Zorawar, designed for high-altitude operations, offers improved mobility and advanced technology, crucial for responsive military operations following regional security dynamics highlighted by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.
