Indian Army Begins Induction of DRDO-BEL Software Defined Radios
The Indian Army has begun the induction of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) developed by DRDO and BEL, marking a significant advancement in military communication capabilities. These SDRs, built under the Indian Radio Software Architecture (IRSA), offer flexibility and enhanced security, allowing seamless interoperability across various forces while reducing communication gaps and maintenance costs. The initiative supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, ensuring the nation’s defense communication infrastructure is independent and resilient against foreign threats. This move not only strengthens operational efficiency and decision-making but also enhances India’s strategic autonomy by maintaining control over critical communication networks, reflecting the country’s commitment to modernizing its defense capabilities in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape.
