Indian Armed Forces to Enhance UAV Capabilities with Heron Drones
The Indian Armed Forces are set to enhance their unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capabilities by acquiring additional Israeli-made Heron drones, notably following their effective utilization in Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. To augment their strike capabilities, these drones will be equipped with Spike non-line-of-sight (NLOS) anti-tank guided missiles, enabling precision engagements beyond visual range. This strategic move reflects India’s ongoing efforts to modernize its military through advanced technologies and strengthen defense ties with Israel, a key supplier of military systems. The integration of ISR and strike capabilities within the Heron platform signifies a pivotal evolution in India’s defense strategy, reinforcing its operational edge in potential conflicts.
