Indian Armed Forces to Acquire 150 STAR Units for Training
The Indian Armed Forces plan to procure 150 Supersonic Target (STAR) units, developed by DRDO, to enhance air defense training and missile testing across the tri-services. The STAR system, capable of simulating modern high-speed threats, offers advanced engagement scenarios for the IAF, IA, and Navy, supporting India’s self-reliance in defense technology. With features like programmable flight profiles, low radar cross-section, and multi-cycle reusability, it enhances training realism against diverse threats. Currently in advanced validation trials, the STAR program signifies a crucial step in improving India’s defense capabilities and operational readiness in the face of evolving aerial threats.
