India to receive fourth S-400 squadron from Russia in 2026, enhancing air defense capabilities.

Russia has reaffirmed its commitment to India by confirming the delivery of the fourth squadron of the S-400 Triumf air defense system in February 2026, following delays caused by the Ukraine conflict. This addition will enhance India’s air defense capabilities, joining the three operational squadrons and providing critical coverage along its frontiers, particularly after gaps exposed during the 2020 Galwan standoff. The complete fleet, including a fifth squadron due in September 2026, will ensure a robust defense against diverse aerial threats. Moreover, Russia’s willingness to transfer critical technology to Indian firms like Bharat Electronics Limited underscores a strengthening defense partnership, which is vital for India’s strategic autonomy and regional security in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
