India to invest Rs 30,000 crore in advanced drone warfare capabilities.
India is set to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) worth Rs. 30,000 crore for Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drones, signaling a strategic shift towards advanced drone warfare capabilities. This initiative, part of a larger defense spending plan aiming for Rs. 2.09 lakh crore this year, emphasizes domestic production, with 75% of the budget earmarked for local industries. Defense Secretary R.K. Singh highlighted the necessity of modern warfare reliance on drones and missiles, indicating that India must enhance its production capacities to meet future challenges. With upcoming defense contracts valued at Rs. 1.5 lakh crore, this approach underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its military infrastructure and operational readiness in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
