India to Add 2 Rafale Squadrons Using Existing Infrastructure
In a significant boost to India’s aerial capabilities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) can induct two additional Rafale squadrons leveraging existing infrastructure without incurring new costs. This move comes as the IAF faces a decline in its fighter fleet, projected to drop to 29 squadrons by 2025. The Rafale has already shown its effectiveness in operations such as Operation Sindoor, and the proposed addition aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by promoting local assembly through partnerships with Indian firms. The strategic enhancement not only addresses squadron shortages but also strengthens deterrence against potential threats from China and Pakistan, particularly amid concerns over Chinese support for Pakistan’s military advancements.
