India Set to Test New Long-Range Subsonic Cruise Missile
India is poised to conduct a crucial test of the new-generation Long-Range Subsonic Cruise Missile (ITCM), a significant advancement from the Nirbhay missile program. Powered by an indigenous turbofan engine, the ITCM is designed for precision strikes against both land and sea targets, featuring advanced navigation and stealth capabilities. The Indian Navy is integrating ITCM with shipborne radar and combat systems, alongside developing multiple launch variants for diverse operational roles. This development complements the existing BrahMos missile and enhances India’s strategic deterrence, reinforcing its commitment to self-reliance in defense under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Successfully demonstrating the ITCM’s capabilities will further empower India’s naval presence in the Indian Ocean and strengthen its overall military readiness.
