India Ready to Develop 6th-Gen Unmanned Fighter Jet, Awaits Govt Approval
India has attained the technological capability to develop a sixth-generation unmanned fighter jet, as indicated by Dr. Kota Harinarayana, architect of the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft. The foundational work on this advanced system, part of the Ghatak UCAV program, has been ongoing, with successful flight tests of scale models. The project aims to enhance capabilities like full-spectrum stealth and AI-driven autonomous decision-making, positioning India alongside major global powers in next-gen air combat. This initiative, pending government approval, marks a significant step in establishing India’s strategic autonomy and innovation in aerial warfare technology, potentially following the expected production of the 5th-generation AMCA in the mid-2030s.
