ICG marks progress with keel laying of Fast Patrol Vessels and Air Cushion Vehicles.
On October 30, 2025, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) achieved significant milestones with the keel laying of the second Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) and the plate cutting of the fifth FPV at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai. Additionally, girder laying ceremonies for two indigenously built Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) were held in Goa. The 14 FPV project, featuring 60% indigenous content, emphasizes advanced technologies, including AI-based systems and drones, enhancing maritime security capabilities. The ACVs, designed for high-speed operations, further bolster ICG’s agility in coastal security. These developments align with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, significantly strengthening the ICG’s operational presence in the Indian Ocean Region and underscoring the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defense.
