The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched two advanced Fast Patrol Vessels, ICG Ship Ajit and ICGS Aparajit, at Goa Shipyard Limited on October 24, 2025, marking the completion of the series of eight indigenous FPVs. These 52-meter vessels, equipped with Controllable Pitch Propellers, enhance India’s maritime security capabilities, enabling multi-mission roles such as fisheries protection and anti-piracy operations. The event underscored the significance of domestic shipbuilding, with officials highlighting the contribution to employment and self-reliance in defense. This launch strengthens the ICG’s operational readiness and reinforces Goa Shipyard Limited’s role as a leader in next-generation defense vessels, crucial for safeguarding India’s vast coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone.
