IAF to Integrate SCALP Missile on Tejas Mk1A and Mk2 for Enhanced Strike Capability

The Indian Air Force (IAF) intends to integrate the SCALP-EG cruise missile onto the Tejas Mk1A and Mk2 fighter jets following its successful deployment during Operation Sindoor. This move aims to enhance the IAF’s deep-strike capabilities, especially amidst rising regional tensions with Pakistan and China. The missile’s proven ability to evade advanced air defenses and deliver precise strikes underscores its strategic importance. By expanding SCALP’s deployment beyond the Rafale jets, the IAF can leverage a more cost-effective and versatile force, ensuring greater operational flexibility against adversarial threats, particularly in light of Pakistan’s acquisition of advanced Chinese military systems.
