The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to enhance its electronic warfare capabilities by procuring an advanced Airborne Stand-Off Jammer (ASOJ) for transport aircraft, enabling it to conduct electronic countermeasures from over 350 km away. This self-sufficient system will cover a frequency range of 0.5 to 40 GHz, allowing it to neutralize various enemy radar and communication systems while preserving the aircraft’s original performance. The initiative reflects the IAF’s strategic focus on maintaining air superiority amid growing threats along its northern and western borders, showcasing an intent to leverage both indigenous development and global technologies for effective integration, despite potential technical challenges.
