IAF to Acquire EAD Swarm System to Enhance Air Defense Capabilities
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is advancing its electronic warfare capabilities by procuring an Expendable Active Decoy (EAD) swarm system, following insights from Operation Sindoor. This high-speed drone swarm, capable of confusing enemy air defenses like China’s HQ-9 and Russia’s S-400, will enhance IAF survivability in contested airspace through advanced electronic warfare payloads and chaff dispensation. The system will integrate with the IAF’s Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), promoting network-centric warfare. Key features include high-speed performance, GPS-independent navigation, and modular payloads for adaptability, reflecting India’s commitment to countering evolving threats in regional geopolitics and enhancing defense preparedness.
