IAF plans to procure 100 indigenous jammer pods for Su-30MKI in 36 months.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has initiated a procurement process for 100 self-protection jammer pods for its Su-30MKI aircraft as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, emphasizing the enhancement of its electronic warfare capabilities. The request for information (RFI) mandates a 36-month delivery timeline and aligns with the larger “Super Sukhoi” upgrade program, aimed at modernizing the fleet with indigenous technologies such as advanced radar systems. The new pods will provide 360-degree jamming coverage to protect the aircraft from sophisticated enemy radar and missile systems, marking a significant move towards self-reliance in defense technology. This development not only strengthens the IAF’s operational readiness but also bolsters India’s domestic defense industry by fostering innovation and collaboration among local manufacturers.
