IAF Plans to Acquire Two More S-400/S-500 Batteries After Success

The Indian Air Force (IAF) aims to procure two additional S-400 or S-500 batteries following the successful Operation Sindoor, where the S-400 demonstrated its capabilities by neutralizing a PAF AWAC aircraft at 300 km. This acquisition would enhance India’s layered air defense, complementing existing systems and integrating with indigenous solutions like the Kusha. The S-500, with its advanced hypersonic missile interception capabilities, is also under consideration, reflecting India’s commitment to modernizing its defense against evolving threats from Pakistan and China. The prospective deal, valued at approximately $23 billion, underscores India’s strategic focus on bolstering its deterrence posture and operational readiness.
