IAF Highlights Technological Advancements and Self-Reliance at Show
The Indian Air Force highlighted its focus on self-reliance and technological upgrades at the Defence & Technology Show – Edition 3.0 in Chennai from September 4–6, underscoring an Atmanirbhar Bharat push across maintenance, repair, overhaul and life-extension for aircraft, engines, avionics and weapon systems. The IAF’s pavilion combined indigenous innovations and indigenized spares with interactive displays and a career segment engaging students and youth, reflecting a broader effort to build a skilled aerospace workforce aligned with India’s defence-industrial priorities. The Chennai showcase comes amid a national tempo of aerospace exhibitions and policy emphasis—seen at Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru (February 10–14), framed by the Defence Minister as a platform for resilience and self-reliance, and by official releases as a runway for global partnerships and domestic manufacturing. Contextualizing the push, the IAF’s maintenance command has previously reported deep indigenization in spares, translating into substantial cost savings and supply assurance for critical fleets, reinforcing operational availability and strategic autonomy.
