HAL to Visit US for Joint Production Talks on GE F414 Engines

A team from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will visit the US this month for the fifth round of discussions on jointly producing GE F414-INS6 engines, essential for the Tejas Mk 2 and Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). Despite ongoing tariff tensions, the partnership is progressing, with an 80% technology transfer focused on production rather than design. Concurrently, India is collaborating with French firm Safran for a new 120KN engine for the AMCA. The Tejas Mk 2, featuring significant enhancements, is expected to begin limited production next year and enter service by 2031, showcasing India’s commitment to advancing its indigenous defense capabilities.
