HAL to deliver indigenous HTT-40 trainer aircraft to IAF from February 2026.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to begin the delivery of its indigenous HTT-40 trainer aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by February 2026, following delays attributed to supply disruptions of critical TPE331-12B turboprop engines from Honeywell. This aircraft will replace the Swiss Pilatus PC-7 MK-II in the IAF’s training fleet, marking a significant step in India’s aerospace capabilities. The HTT-40 project emphasizes indigenization, with 38% of its components sourced from nearly 100 private suppliers, primarily from India’s MSME sector. Achieving military-specific certifications will not only enhance the aircraft’s operational reliability but also open avenues for potential exports, reinforcing India’s position in the global defense market.
