HAL to Deliver 156 Upgraded LCH Prachand Helicopters by 2033
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to enhance India’s defense capabilities with a project valued at ₹62,700 crore for 156 upgraded Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) Prachand, expected to be delivered by 2033. This comprehensive upgrade will improve combat effectiveness through advanced avionics, weapon integration, and electronic warfare systems, particularly suited for high-altitude operations in the Himalayas. With 90 units for the Indian Army and 66 for the Indian Air Force, the LCH will significantly boost India’s rotary-wing combat capacity amidst ongoing border challenges. The project underscores India’s commitment to indigenization in defense, enhancing self-reliance and operational readiness in sensitive regions.
