HAL Reveals First Image of 21st Tejas Mk1A Fighter Jet

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has unveiled the first image of the 21st Tejas Mk1A fighter jet, designated LA-5053, currently under assembly at its Nashik facility. This significant milestone indicates the operational capabilities of HAL’s third dedicated assembly line, which aims to produce eight Mk1A jets annually to meet the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) requirements. Despite supply chain challenges affecting engine availability, the facility integrates advanced technologies to enhance production efficiency. With upgraded avionics, an AESA radar, and improved electronic warfare systems, the Tejas Mk1A enhances India’s indigenous defense capabilities, supporting the IAF’s objective to bolster its fleet under a 73-aircraft contract signed in 2021. This development underscores India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
