HAL Outsources Tejas Mk2 Windscreen Production to Private Firms
India’s HAL is set to outsource the production of the Tejas Mk2 fighter jet’s windscreen and canopy to private firms, aiming to enhance the manufacturing process and avoid bottlenecks in meeting the IAF’s requirements. This initiative, part of the “Make in India” policy, seeks to involve private industry in crucial defense projects, thereby promoting self-reliance. The Tejas Mk2, an advanced 4.5-generation aircraft projected for 2027, features enhanced capabilities and requires a robust supply chain for timely delivery. By leveraging private sector expertise in aerospace composites and manufacturing, HAL intends to strengthen the domestic defense ecosystem and ensure operational readiness for the IAF.
