HAL has entered a strategic partnership with HENSOLDT Sensors GmbH, Germany, during the Dubai Air Show 2025 to develop an advanced Obstacle Avoidance System (OAS) and Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) systems for Indian military helicopters. This collaboration will enable HAL to indigenously design, manufacture, integrate, and sustain these sophisticated avionics, particularly enhancing helicopter safety through the use of LiDAR technology, which provides synthetic vision to detect critical obstacles even in poor visibility conditions. The contract empowers India with not only the rights to the technology but also export capabilities, positioning the country among a select group capable of producing and distributing such advanced safety solutions globally. This partnership underscores the growing Indo-German defense-industrial cooperation and represents a significant leap forward for India’s aerospace ecosystem, enhancing operational safety and reducing risks associated with helicopter operations, particularly in challenging environments.
