The Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) has secured a pivotal role in the co-development of a 120kN thrust-class jet engine, which is set to power India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). GTRE will manage core design, technology transfer, production, and certification, leveraging its extensive experience from previous projects. This initiative marks a significant step towards India’s aerospace self-reliance, enabling local production and reducing dependence on foreign technology. By fostering an indigenous ecosystem for advanced jet engines, India is enhancing its strategic autonomy in defense capabilities, thereby strengthening its position as a rising power in military aviation.
