GTRE-Safran 120 kN engine integrates smoothly into AMCA, confirms ADA Chief.

In a significant boost to India’s fifth-generation fighter program, the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) Chief Dr. Jitendra Jadhav announced that the co-developed GTRE-Safran 120 kN engine will integrate seamlessly into the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) with minimal design modifications. This engine, which exceeds the thrust of the F-414, is set to enhance the AMCA’s stealth and operational capabilities, including supercruise. The project, with a budget of ₹15,000 crore, is on track for its first flight by 2028 and aims for induction by 2035. This successful collaboration not only strengthens India’s defense technology but also positions the nation as a key player in the global aerospace market, while addressing critical challenges in engine integration and performance.
