Godrej Defence and L&T Propose 90kN Engine for Tejas Mk1A/MkII
In a significant move to enhance India’s aerospace capabilities, Godrej Defence and L&T have proposed developing a 90kN derivative of the Kaveri Derivative Engine (KDE) to support the Tejas Mk1A and MkII aircraft programs. This initiative seeks to reduce dependency on foreign engines amid geopolitical tensions and supply chain issues from the U.S. Their collaborative approach aims to integrate advanced technologies, potentially leading to a more powerful engine that meets the Indian Air Force’s evolving needs. The success of this project could pave the way for greater self-reliance in defense manufacturing, aligning with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative and long-term strategic objectives.
