Germany modernizes Eurofighter fleet with advanced capabilities for air defense.
Germany is set to enhance its air superiority through the procurement of 20 latest-generation Eurofighter Typhoon jets, specifically the Tranche 5 variant, expected between 2031 and 2034. This initiative aims to modernize its aging Tornado fleet while integrating advanced technologies such as AESA E-Scan radar and Saab’s Arexis sensor suite, crucial for electronic warfare. The specialized Eurofighter EK variant will also be developed for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) missions, utilizing cutting-edge munitions like the AGM-88E AARGM missile. This procurement not only underscores Germany’s commitment to NATO interoperability and air sovereignty but also reflects a broader trend of defense modernization in Europe amidst evolving security challenges, ensuring a robust and diversified aerial capability for the German Air Force.
