Germany and UK unveil advanced floating bridges to boost NATO capabilities.
On October 30, 2025, Germany and the United Kingdom announced a joint procurement initiative for advanced floating bridges, named Schwimmschnellbrücke 2 and TRITON, aimed at enhancing NATO’s frontline military capabilities. Developed by General Dynamics European Land Systems, these self-propelled vehicles will replace outdated systems, offering improved off-road mobility and interoperability among NATO allies. This initiative forms part of the UK-Germany Trinity House Agreement and underscores the commitment to bolster European security in light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The acquisition reflects a strategic emphasis on rapid deployment and operational flexibility, crucial for NATO’s collective defense strategy and the evolving security landscape in Europe.
