General Atomics launches Gambit 6 drone wingman for air-to-ground missions.

General Atomics has unveiled the Gambit 6 drone wingman, designed for air-to-ground combat, at the Defence IQ International Fighter conference in Rome. This unmanned Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) focuses on Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) and precision strike missions, boasting a modular architecture and advanced autonomy. With a shared core system that constitutes 70% of its cost, the Gambit 6 aims to enhance interoperability among different drone variants. Scheduled for international sales in 2027, it underscores a broader trend among Western air forces toward integrating autonomous systems to amplify combat capabilities. For India, this development signifies the growing importance of advanced unmanned systems in maintaining strategic parity in a rapidly evolving global airpower landscape.
