DRDO's Akash-NG missile successfully intercepts targets using EOTS guidance.

In a significant advancement for India’s air defense capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted user trials of the next-generation Akash-NG missile system, demonstrating its ability to intercept targets solely using the Electro-Optical Tracking System (EOTS). This innovative guidance method, which avoids radar emissions, enhances stealth and survivability against enemy detection and anti-radiation missiles. During the trials, the Akash-NG accurately hit a high-speed Banshee drone, showcasing its operational flexibility and precision against diverse aerial threats. The integration of EOTS aligns with India’s self-reliance initiative, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and is pivotal in modern conflicts characterized by electronic warfare, reinforcing India’s strategic defense posture in a challenging regional environment.
