The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced a significant initiative for the Sudarshan Chakra Air Defence Shield, aimed at creating a fully indigenous multi-layered defense network by 2035 to counter aerial threats. This initiative includes advanced technologies such as satellite-based surveillance and Directed Energy Weapons, with an emphasis on collaboration between defence public sector undertakings and start-ups to enhance self-sufficiency.
