DRDO urges start-ups to enhance Sudarshan Chakra Air Defence Shield initiative.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced a significant initiative for the Sudarshan Chakra Air Defence Shield, aimed at creating a fully indigenous multi-layered defense network by 2035 to counter aerial threats. This initiative includes advanced technologies such as satellite-based surveillance and Directed Energy Weapons, with an emphasis on collaboration between defence public sector undertakings and start-ups to enhance self-sufficiency. The drive for indigenization is underscored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive, with expectations for rapid production capabilities. The integration of artificial intelligence and automation is also pivotal for adaptive threat neutralization. This initiative not only aims to bolster national security but also represents a critical step towards establishing India as a self-reliant defense power.
