DRDO to Conduct 200 Sorties for Su-30MKI Radar Testing
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to enhance the Indian Air Force’s Su-30MKI capabilities through the Project Virupaksha, introducing an advanced AESA radar. Approximately 200 sorties will validate the radar’s performance, which features superior range and capabilities against stealth targets. Developed by DRDO’s LRDE, this radar will replace the existing Russian radar, making the Su-30MKI a formidable 4.5+ generation platform. The upgrade, part of a ₹66,829 crore program, aims for indigenous production and could potentially lead to defense exports, emphasizing India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense technology through the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
