DRDO seeks proposals for Digital Twin framework for aero engine monitoring.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation has issued an open tender dated 26 November 2025 for developing a Digital Twin framework for an aero gas turbine engine Health and Usage Monitoring System under its Technology Development Fund, with bids closing on 26 December 2025 and opening on 9 December 2025. The project, handled by DRDO HQ in New Delhi, seeks a model-based, data-driven HUMS backbone to enable real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance and lifecycle management of indigenous aero engines across combat aircraft and UAV fleets. Such a digital twin architecture aligns India with emerging global practices in distributed engine health monitoring and reduces dependence on foreign OEM algorithms, strengthening Atmanirbhar Bharat in military aviation and improving fleet availability in a future high-intensity air campaign scenario.
