The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has invited bids for developing a siloxane-based coating for the Tejas aircraft to reduce its Radar Cross Section (RCS) and optical performance. This project focuses on plasma polymerisation technology to improve the canopy and windshield characteristics, with bids due by October 6, 2025. The initiative underscores India’s commitment to advancing indigenous defense technologies, enhancing the Tejas aircraft’s capabilities, and ensuring compliance with stringent standards for adhesion, thickness, and optical properties. This move not only strengthens India’s defense readiness but also promotes the defense industry’s growth by fostering innovation and encouraging local vendors to participate in high-tech projects.
