DRDO Launches Indigenous VLRR Radar for Enhanced Missile Defense
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has unveiled the indigenous Very Long Range Radar/Very Long Range Tracking Radar (VLRR/VLRTR) for India’s Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) Phase-II program, marking a significant advancement toward self-reliance in defense technology. This GaN-based AESA radar enhances capabilities against missile threats from nations like China and Pakistan, operating effectively over long ranges and in challenging conditions. The development, highlighting collaboration with Indian industries, aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and elevates India’s position among nations with advanced radar technologies, positioning it for greater strategic autonomy in missile defense amidst evolving threats.
