DRDO Develops Raksha Kavach: Advanced Air Defense System for India

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched the development of the Raksha Kavach, a state-of-the-art, multi-layered air defense system aimed at enhancing the Indian Army’s aerial defense capabilities. Unveiled at Aero India 2025, this mobile platform integrates advanced technologies to counter diverse aerial threats, featuring a 360-degree traversable 40 mm cannon turret and indigenous Man-Portable Air-Defense Systems (MANPADS). Designed for rapid deployment and operational flexibility, Raksha Kavach embodies India’s commitment to a self-reliant defense ecosystem under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This significant advancement not only strengthens India’s defense posture but also positions it competitively in the global defense landscape, reflecting a strategic focus on innovative, indigenous solutions to emerging security challenges.
