DRDO Develops Indigenous Quartz-Cyanate Radome for Production
The DRDO’s R&DE(E) has developed an advanced quartz-cyanate ester composite radome, ready for mass production and technology transfer to Indian industry partners, marking a significant step toward self-reliance in defense technology. This indigenous solution will replace costly imported radomes while enhancing the performance of AESA radars on aircraft like the LCA Tejas and AMCA, ensuring minimal signal loss and improved operational safety. The initiative aligns with the Make in India campaign, fostering domestic manufacturing, creating jobs, and strengthening the defense industrial ecosystem. Key players, including HAL and private firms, are expected to engage in production, enhancing India’s defense capabilities and reducing dependency on foreign suppliers.
