The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the 120-km range Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) at the Integrated Test Range in Odisha. This launch coincided with the project’s approval by the Defence Acquisition Council, indicating strong governmental support. The rocket demonstrated precise in-flight maneuvers, impacting its target with accuracy, and was launched from the existing Pinaka platform, showcasing its versatility. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the achievement as a game-changer for the Armed Forces, emphasizing the LRGR’s potential to enhance India’s artillery capabilities in modern warfare, while also noting its success in the export market, particularly with interest from European nations.
