DRDO approves PTC Industries for key AMCA titanium component, boosting indigenization.

In a significant advancement for India’s self-reliant defense aviation sector, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has granted PTC Industries a Letter of Technical Acceptance (LoTA) for the Titanium Rear Fin Root Casting, a vital component for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). This approval, part of a broader indigenization effort, coincides with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art materials plant in Uttar Pradesh, enhancing domestic production capabilities. The AMCA program, which aims to develop a fifth-generation stealth fighter, is progressing towards prototype assembly, with the potential to induct 126 units into the Indian Air Force by the mid-2030s. This move underscores India’s commitment to reducing reliance on imports while boosting its defense manufacturing ecosystem, aligning with the Make in India initiative.
